Primary care built around relationships.
This is medicine as it was meant to be. I created Oropeza Health around a simple idea: good primary care starts with knowing the person in front of you.
That means making time for context, asking questions instead of making assumptions, and building a relationship where we can make thoughtful decisions about your health together. Care is evidence-based, individualized, and grounded in respect for your goals, your autonomy, and your lived experience.
Why Oropeza Health
I became a family physician because I believe in the power of primary care: you get a doctor who knows you. I get to know people over time and be there through the ordinary, complicated, and unexpected parts of life.
Too often, corporate and fee-for-service healthcare gets in the way of practicing medicine that way. Short appointments, long waits, insurance requirements, and pressure to see more patients leave less time for listening, thinking, and building relationships.
I created Oropeza Health because I wanted to practice medicine the way I was trained to. Membership-based primary care gives me the freedom to keep a smaller patient panel and spend more time with each person — so we can address what matters, make thoughtful decisions, and follow up when things change.
Oropeza Health isn't about reinventing primary care. It's about creating the space to actually do it well.
Our Values
- Community
- To share the cost of care across our members, so the care you get isn't determined by what you can pay.
- Authenticity
- To show up as our whole selves, and treat you as one too — not a diagnosis.
- Access
- To make reaching us and getting seen straightforward.
- Prevention
- To catch things early rather than just react.
Our Approach to Care
Good healthcare isn't equal, it's equitable. Not everyone gets the same thing — everyone gets what they need. Your health exists in the context of your body, your life, your identities, your priorities, and your experiences.
- Evidence-based
- I take science seriously. We'll talk about what we know, what we don't, and how the best available evidence applies to you.
- Shared decision-making
- You are the expert on your own life. I'm the expert you hired to help with your healthcare. I'll give you my medical opinion, explain your options and their tradeoffs, and we'll make decisions together.
- Queer-centered & stigma-free
- Oropeza Health was built with LGBTQ+ people in mind, not added on as an afterthought. You shouldn't have to educate your doctor about your identity or defend the healthcare you need. And you don't have to be queer to belong here.
- Weight-inclusive
- Inspired by the Association for Weight and Size Inclusive Medicine (AWSIM), we focus on health, not size. People of all sizes deserve evidence-based care, appropriate equipment, nourishment, and treatment that respects their goals and autonomy. We work to avoid the harms of weight bias — and if we get it wrong, we want that feedback.
- Neurodivergent-affirming
- Different isn't something that needs to be fixed. We'll focus on your strengths and what you want support with, adapt care and communication when needed, and find strategies that work with your brain instead of against it. You don't need to mask here.
- Harm reduction
- Health isn't all-or-nothing. We'll talk honestly about what matters to you, benefits and risks, and practical ways to reduce harm and improve your health and quality of life — without judgment, coercion, or requiring abstinence as the price of receiving care.
- Trauma-informed
- You stay in control of what happens to your body. I'll explain what I'm recommending and why, ask permission, and make room for questions, boundaries, and changing your mind. You get to say no to your healthcare team.

About Oropeza Health FAQ
Do I have to be LGBTQ+ to be a patient at Oropeza Health?
Not at all. Oropeza Health welcomes people of all identities. I have particular expertise in LGBTQ+ health, gender-affirming care, HIV prevention and treatment, and sexual health, but I’m a family physician first. I provide comprehensive primary care for people ages 12 and up.
What does LGBTQ+ affirming primary care mean at Oropeza Health?
It means you should be able to talk openly about your health, identity, relationships, sexuality, gender, family, and life without having to educate your physician or worry about being judged.
LGBTQ+ health is also an area of clinical expertise in my practice, including gender-affirming care, PrEP and HIV care, sexual health, preventive care, and the everyday healthcare needs that have nothing to do with being LGBTQ+.
Do you provide gender-affirming care?
Yes. I provide gender-affirming primary care, which includes not only hormone treatment, but also preventive care, sexual and reproductive healthcare, mental health medication management, and having a primary care physician who you don't have to prove yourself to.
What does weight-inclusive care mean?
I don’t believe the number on a scale should determine the quality of healthcare you receive. I do not require routine weigh-ins, and I focus on your health, symptoms, goals, medical history, and the evidence rather than making assumptions based on body size.
There are so many ways we can support your health—sleep, adding fiber, adding movement, being with other humans, and much more.
What does neurodivergent-affirming care look like?
It starts with believing you about how your brain works and figuring out what actually works for you. I don't expect every patient to communicate, remember things, make decisions, or navigate healthcare in the same way.
We can be direct. We can write things down. You can message me after an appointment when you remember the question you meant to ask. We can talk through the why behind a plan instead of expecting you to follow instructions just because a doctor gave them. The goal isn't to make you better at being a patient. It's to make your healthcare work better for you.
Why does Oropeza Health work with community partners?
Healthcare doesn't happen in isolation. I work with local organizations that already know, support, and have earned the trust of the communities they serve.
These partnerships help me stay connected to what our community actually needs. They also allow trusted community organizations to refer people who need more affordable access to primary care for a limited number of reduced-cost memberships.
Why did you start Oropeza Health?
I wanted to practice family medicine with enough time to actually know my patients. Traditional fee-for-service healthcare increasingly made that difficult.
Oropeza Health is intentionally small so appointments don’t have to be rushed and you can reach your physician when questions come up—not just during a scheduled visit. It lets me practice the kind of relationship-based, evidence-based family medicine I believe primary care should be.
