We take care of us.
Health doesn't happen in isolation. Much of what shapes our health happens outside the healthcare system. The organizations doing advocacy, education, mutual aid, social services, and community-building are often the places people turn to first — and the places that understand their needs best.
Oropeza Health partners with community organizations to connect people with affirming primary care, strengthen local referral networks, and invest in the health of the communities we share.
How Community Partnerships Work
- Connect people with care
Trusted community partners can connect people they serve with Oropeza Health, including people who may face financial barriers to membership.
This is one of the ways our mutual-aid membership model works: Community Support members choose to pay more each month, helping Oropeza Health make membership accessible to people who otherwise might not be able to afford it. Community partners help make sure that support reaches people in our community who need it.
Reduced-cost membership opportunities are limited and available through participating community partners.
- Sponsor someone's healthcare
Organizations can also sponsor an Oropeza Health membership for someone they serve.
Sponsored memberships provide access to ongoing primary care rather than a one-time visit. When possible, I encourage year-long sponsorships so there's time to establish care, address ongoing health needs, and build a meaningful primary care relationship.
- Build a referral relationship
Partnership works both ways.
I want to know the organizations and resources available in our community so I can connect patients with support beyond what happens in my office. Community partners also have a place to send people looking for primary care that is LGBTQ+-affirming, weight-inclusive, neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, or grounded in harm reduction.
The decision to contact Oropeza Health or become a patient always belongs to the person being referred.
